Guidelines on how to nominate

Anyone can be great and a nominee for The W Awards can come from anywhere. The following guidelines and criteria should guide your nomination.

  • You can nominate a woman who qualifies in any of the different categories
  • The nominations are open to all women resident in Nigeria and Nigerian citizens in diaspora
  • You can nominate yourself or another woman who you believe deserves an award
  • You can only nominate individuals. Teams and groups are not eligible to win any of the awards
  • An individual can only win one award per year.
Things to know about the entry form that may make it easier to complete:

  • Please provide specific details when describing the nominee and focus on successful efforts, contributions and accomplishments.
  • You can attach supplementary materials and submit online with the nomination form.
  • By clicking the NEXT STEP button at the bottom of the entry page, that page is automatically saved. Leaving the page without clicking NEXT STEP or SAVE will mean losing the content that’s just been entered
  • After saving your form, you can send the link to your email address and come back to it later. The link will be active for 30 days. However, all forms must be completed before the nomination closes on October 9, 2015.

Criteria

The W Entrepreneur of the Year

  1. Business must be for-profit
  2. The award will recognize individuals with the following characteristics of a successful entrepreneur i.e. creativity, innovation, dynamic growth, sound management, financial, environmental & social sustainability.
  3. It must be shown to have excelled or endured through the different phases of a business cycle.
  4. Must have a proven track record and be seen to be providing value through its goods or services. The business idea must be replicable at an economical cost and must satisfy a specific need.
  5. She must be fully engaged and active in the day-to-day running and decision-making in the business.
  6. Mentored and inspired other women striving for success.

The W Young Professional

  1. Working with any reputable company
  2. Demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in her profession
  3. An active participant in the advancement or improvement of the organization
  4. Represented as an example for younger women

The W Seasoned Professional

  1. Working with any reputable company
  2. The nominee must have a broad sphere of influence and relevance within and outside the organization
  3. Must be seen as a thought and opinion leader in her industry and known as a subject matter expert
  4. She must have demonstrated capacity to contribute to the creation of policies that have an impact in her industry, society and in the macro economy.
  5. The nominee must have exhibited laudable and exceptional leadership qualities.
  6. The nominee must have used her good and impeccable leadership qualities towards the growth in her community and organization.
  7. Influencing or encouraging the career development or advancement of young women
  8. Shown to have made direct contributions to programs, policies, or initiatives that positively influence the status of the organization
  9. Mentored and inspired other women striving for success

The W Amazon

  1. In any career field (Personal business or employed)
  2. The nominee must have exhibited laudable and exceptional leadership qualities.
  3. Has a family and has shown a balance with work and family life.
  4. The nominee must have used her good and impeccable leadership qualities towards the growth in her community and organization
  5. Shown to have made direct contributions to programs, policies, or initiatives that positively influence the status of the organization or community issue/initiative or business
  6. Mentored and inspired others striving for success

  1. Any business or profession or service
  2. This woman could be living or dead
